Transport Medicine
Sometimes a critically ill or injured child needs to be transported. The members of PCCSF have specialized training in the triage and management of infants and children requiring medical transport.
Transport team members are required to have specific competencies for the transport of patients by ground, fixed-wing and helicopter. A member of PCCSF triages the transfer call, makes recommendations to the referring facility to assist with stabilization of the patient if necessary, and directs the assembly of the team and supervises the safe transport of the patient. Additionally, a member of PCCSF is available to accompany the patient during the transport if the clinical condition warrants.
